Historical Record FC Partnerships and Test Milestones
Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene hold the record for the highest partnership in first-class cricket. The Sri Lankan duo put together 624 runs for the third wicket against South Africa in the second innings of the 2006 Colombo Test.
The 624-run partnership is also the highest by a pair for any wicket in Test cricket.
Waheed Mirza and Mansoor Akhtar have stitched the highest opening partnership in FC cricket. The pair aggregated 561 runs for the first wicket for Karachi Whites against Quetta in the 1976-77 Patrons Trophy.
Frank Worrell (Barbados) and Ravindra Jadeja (Saurashtra) are the two batters to have featured in two partnerships each of 500 or more runs in FC cricket.
Highest Unbeaten FC Stand and Elite Ranji Trophy Records
Kashyap Bakhale and Snehal Kauthankar have recorded the highest unbeaten partnership in FC cricket. They contributed an unbeaten 606 runs for the third wicket for Goa against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy plate group fixture. This is the highest partnership in the Ranji Trophy.
Bakhale and Kauthankar scored their individual triple centuries in the second innings. This became only the second instance of two batters scoring triple hundreds in the same innings of an FC match.
Jadeja has featured in the highest partnership for the fifth or lower wicket in FC cricket. He partnered for an unbeaten 520 runs with Cheteshwar Pujara for the fifth wicket against Orissa in the 2008-09 Ranji Trophy.
Rare Partnership Feats Across Multiple FC Innings
Bert Sutcliffe-Donald Taylor, Paul Pollard-Tim Robinson, Graham Gooch-John Stephenson, Marcus Trescothick-Arul Suppiah and Sahibzada Farhan-Waqar Ahmed are the five opening pairs to score double century partnerships in both innings of an FC match.
There’s only one instance of pairs scoring century stands for the tenth wicket in both innings of an FC match. Lindsay Tuckett partnered with Lancelot Fuller for 115 runs in the first innings and then paired with Frank Caulfield for 129 runs in the third innings for Orange Free State against Western Province in the 1925-26 Currie Cup.
