Gill’s Early T20I Career and Maiden Century Milestones

Gill had a lukewarm start to his T20I career. He managed seven runs off five balls against Sri Lanka in the 2023 Wankhede T20I.

In just his sixth innings, Gill smashed his maiden T20I century. This is the fourth-fewest innings taken by an Indian batter to score a T20I ton.

He brought up an unbeaten 126 runs from 63 balls against New Zealand in the 2023 Ahmedabad T20I.

His unbeaten 126 is the second-highest individual score by an Indian batter in the shortest format.

Gill was the fourth-highest run-scorer for India in T20Is in 2023. He aggregated 312 runs in 13 innings.

His strike rate of 145.11 was the sixth-highest by an Indian batter in T20Is in 2023.


Gill’s Mixed T20I Performance in 2024

Gill scored 266 runs in eight outings in 2024, the eighth-most by an Indian batter in T20Is that year.

He scored those runs at a strike rate of 133, the third-lowest by a batter for India in 2024 (minimum 100 balls faced).

He accumulated 170 of his 266 runs against Zimbabwe on the 2024 five-match tour. This is the most runs by an Indian batter against Zimbabwe in a bilateral T20I series.

Gill scored five 30-plus knocks, the joint-second most by an Indian batter in 2024.


Gill’s Inconsistent Run in 2025 in T20Is

Gill wasn’t in great touch in 2025. He did not score a single fifty, with his highest score being 47 off 28 balls against Pakistan in Dubai in the 2025 Asia Cup.

Overall, he scored 291 runs across 15 innings, the fourth-most for India in T20Is in 2025. 

His average of 24.25 and strike rate of 137.26 were the fourth-highest by an Indian that year (minimum 100 balls faced).
