Milestone and Overall Team Sixes Records in ODI

India and the West Indies are the only two teams with more than 3000 sixes in ODI cricket. 

The Indian team is currently leading the pack, having crossed the 3000-sixes milestone in September 2023, the first by a team.

A total of 24 teams have hammered 100 or more sixes in the 50-over format. While 12 of them are full members, the rest are associate teams with temporary ODI status.

Among the teams with 500 maximums, Afghanistan have the best sixes-per-match ratio. On average, the Afghans hit approximately 4.5 sixes per ODI. 

Namibia are the other team to smash four sixes per match among the teams with a minimum of 200 sixes.

India, New Zealand, the West Indies, South Africa and England are the five teams with 1000-plus sixes at home in ODIs.

Australia, the West Indies, India, Pakistan and England are the five teams with more than 1000 sixes in overseas ODIs.

Individual Batter Contributions Across ODI Teams

Eight batters each from India and Australia have struck 100-plus sixes, the joint most for any team in ODIs. Pakistan and the West Indies follow with six batters each, while South Africa have five batters.

Among the batters, Rohit Sharma, Shahid Afridi and Chris Gayle have slammed more than 300 maximums in ODI cricket.
