Quickest to 2000 T20I Runs by Innings, Balls, & Time

New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum was the first batter to accumulate 2000 runs in T20Is. He achieved the feat in 66 innings in 2014.

Pakistan’s duo, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, are the joint-fastest batters to reach the 2000-run mark in T20Is. Both took 52 innings each to get to the milestone, with Azam doing so in April 2021 and Rizwan in September 2022.

Uganda’s Ssesazi is the fastest to surpass 2000 T20I runs in terms of time, having taken two years and 190 days from his debut.

India’s Suryakumar Yadav (2y 273d) and UAE’s Muhammad Waseem (2y 360d) are the other batters to complete 2000 T20I runs within three years of their debuts.

Suryakumar is the fastest batter to score 2000 T20I runs by balls, facing 1164 deliveries to achieve the milestone.


Most Innings, Balls, & Time to Score 2000 T20I Runs

Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi has taken the most innings to score 2000 T20I runs, requiring 109 innings to surpass the mark.

Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is the slowest batter to reach 2000 T20I runs in terms of time taken. It took him 15 years and 217 days from his debut to go past the milestone.

Pakistan’s Mohammad Hafeez has consumed the most deliveries, completing his 2000 runs in 1715 balls in T20Is.


Specialised Roles: Opener, Wicketkeeper, & Captain Records

Rizwan is also the quickest to score 2000 runs as an opener and as a wicketkeeper in T20Is. He took 40 innings while opening and 51 innings while keeping for Pakistan.

Uganda’s Simon Ssesazi and Kuwait’s Ravija Sandaruwan are the slowest openers to complete 2000 T20I runs, taking 75 innings each.

South Africa’s Quinton de Kock and Afghanistan’s Mohammad Shahzad have taken the joint-most innings to score 2000 T20I runs as keeper-batters, requiring 70 innings each.

Mohammad Waseem is quickest to the mark among captains, taking 58 innings to score 2000 runs while leading the UAE in T20Is.

Kane Williamson, though, is the slowest captain to aggregate 2000 T20I runs, taking 69 innings while leading New Zealand.


Youngest & Oldest to 2000 T20I Runs

Hafeez is also the oldest batter to complete 2000 runs in T20Is at the age of 39 years and 318 days in 2020. Nabi (39y 49d) is the other batter to take more than 39 years.

Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz, on the other hand, is the youngest batter to score 2000 T20I runs at the age of 23 years and 339 days in 2025.
