Key Insights

Bernard Scholtz became the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul in ODIs in 2025. He returned with the figures of 5 for 22, his joint-best in ODIs, against the USA in February.

Scholtz also became the third Namibian bowler to grab two five-fors in 50-over cricket. Two days later, his captain, Gerhard Erasmus, joined him on the list. The Namibian skipper picked up five wickets for 34 against Oman.

Nosthush Kenjige’s 5 for 11 (vs Oman) are the second-best bowling figures for the USA in ODIs. In all, he was the third USA bowler to take a five-for in this format.

Varun Chakravarthy’s 5 for 42 (vs New Zealand) and Mohammed Shami’s 5 for 53 (vs Bangladesh) are the second and third best figures for India in the Champions Trophy (CT).

Likewise, Matt Henry’s 5 for 42 against India is the second-best innings analysis for New Zealand in the CT. Azmatullah Omarzai, meanwhile, became the first Afghan bowler to take a five-wicket haul in the CT.

Henry has picked up three four-wicket hauls thus far. He is only the third New Zealand bowler to take three or more four-fors in two calendar years, with his first instance being in 2014.

Ben Sears became the first Kiwi bowler to pick up five-fors in two successive ODIs. Overall, he became the 14th bowler to attain the record in ODIs. Sears returned with 5 for 59 and 5 for 34 in the second and third ODIs against Pakistan.
