Record-Breaking Six-Hitting and Boundary Counts in a T20I Innings
Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan has smashed the most sixes in a T20I innings. He struck 18 maximums in his unbeaten 144-run knock against Cyprus in 2024.
Chauhan’s hundred came off 27 balls, the fewest deliveries taken by a batter to hammer a T20I century.
Finn Allen’s 16 sixes against Pakistan in the 2024 Dunedin T20I are the most by a batter at a home ground in a T20I innings.
Chris Gayle has hit the most sixes in an innings in the T20 World Cup. The West Indies hitter smashed 11 maximums in his unbeaten 100 against England in the 2016 edition match.
The Czech Republic’s Dylan Steyn and Samoa’s Darius Visser have scored the most fours in a T20I innings. Both batters struck 17 fours each against Bulgaria and Malaysia in 2022 and 2025, respectively.
Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai has scored the most boundaries (sixes + fours) in a T20I innings. He hit 27 boundaries combined, including 16 sixes and 11 fours, in his unbeaten 162 against Ireland in the 2019 Dehradun T20I.
Zazai’s 27 boundaries added 140 runs to his tally, the most by a batter in a T20I innings through sixes and fours combined.
Six Sixes in an Over and Other Boundary Milestones
Six of Darius Visser’s 14 sixes came in an over against Vanuatu in the T20 World Cup regional qualifier in 2024. This resulted in 39 runs, making it the most expensive over in a T20I innings.
India’s Yuvraj Singh (vs England), West Indies’ Kieron Pollard (vs Sri Lanka), Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee (vs Qatar), and Bulgaria’s Manan Bashir (vs Gibraltar) are the other batters to hit six sixes in an over in T20Is.
High-Impact T20I Innings
Dipendra Singh Airee has recorded the highest strike rate in a T20I innings (minimum 25 runs). He struck at 520 while hammering 52 runs in 10 balls, including eight sixes, against Mongolia in the 2023 Asian Games. Six of Dipendra’s maximums came in a row, although not in a single over.
Dipendra’s eight sixes contributed 92.30 per cent (48) of his total runs, the highest by a batter in a T20I innings (minimum 50 runs).
Among the centurions, 75 per cent of Sahul Chauhan’s runs came through his 18 sixes.
Austria’s Karanbir Singh has hit 10 or more sixes in three T20I innings, the most by a batter in this format.
